Dear Christian Brothers and Sisters working in the service role as Deacons/Deaconess, I bid you greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I want to take this opportunity first to say how pleased I am to assume the ranks as President of the General Baptist Deacon’s Association of Washington DC and Vicinity and Its Auxiliaries. I cannot tell you the joy I feel at the opportunity to serve such a historic and prestigious organization that has worked to train and equip church officers for over 100 years.
The times we now face as we sit under the umbrella of a global pandemic, uncertainty in the economy, confusion all around, social division, and racial unrest, we must remind ourselves that God is still in control. My goals for GBDA are fundamental to our creed of service before self. We will work in all phases of the Association to strengthening Deacons, promote the role of Deaconess in the Women’s Auxiliary, train our youth and build our Youth Department, and support the goals and missions of our Young Adult Department.
I look forward to reaching out across the DMV region to discuss the work and support the GBDA does and will do moving forward, and prayerfully you will decide to lend your talents, expertise, and support to our area mission. I am always available to discuss the work of the Association with you and to share the outreach efforts the GBDA plays in working with local Diaconates to promote spiritual harmony, training, restoration, counseling, activity support, ordination assistance, and community fellowship. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the efforts and support we can coordinate together. You can either email me at JMILLS3335@YAHOO.COM or telephonically at 202-390-8157.
Again, along with my wife-- Dr. Esther Mills, we are so proud of our Association, and we look forward to speaking with you and sharing our goals with you moving forward. Please think of GBDA when you have your church functions, programs, and activities. We are only a phone call away.
Humbled and blessed,
Deacon John E. Mills
President - General Baptist Deacons Association
