Greetings to the Servants of Jesus Christ

Dear Christian Brothers and Sisters working in the service role as Deacons/Deaconess, I bid you greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I want to take this opportunity first to say how pleased I am to assume the ranks as President of the General Baptist Deacon’s Association of Washington DC and Vicinity and Its Auxiliaries. I cannot tell you the joy I feel at the opportunity to serve such a historic and prestigious organization that has worked to train and equip church officers for over 100 years.

The times we now face as we sit under the umbrella of a global pandemic, uncertainty in the economy, confusion all around, social division, and racial unrest, we must remind ourselves that God is still in control. My goals for GBDA are fundamental to our creed of service before self. We will work in all phases of the Association to strengthening Deacons, promote the role of Deaconess in the Women’s Auxiliary, train our youth and build our Youth Department, and support the goals and missions of our Young Adult Department.

I look forward to reaching out across the DMV region to discuss the work and support the GBDA does and will do moving forward, and prayerfully you will decide to lend your talents, expertise, and support to our area mission. I am always available to discuss the work of the Association with you and to share the outreach efforts the GBDA plays in working with local Diaconates to promote spiritual harmony, training, restoration, counseling, activity support, ordination assistance, and community fellowship. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the efforts and support we can coordinate together. You can either email me at JMILLS3335@YAHOO.COM or telephonically at 202-281-4827.

Again, along with my wife-- Dr. Esther Mills, we are so proud of our Association, and we look forward to speaking with you and sharing our goals with you moving forward. Please think of GBDA when you have your church functions, programs, and activities. We are only a phone call away.

Humbled and blessed,

Deacon John E. Mills
President - General Baptist Deacons Association

School for Deacons/Deaconesses Ministry
Tuesday, May 25, 2021, 7pm - 9pm

Dear Deacons and Deaconesses,

In partnership with the National Congress of Christian Education and the General Baptist Deacons’ Association, we have developed a masterful curriculum for Deacons and Deaconesses.

The School for Deacons and Deaconesses this year will focus on three objectives:

  1. Present the participants with an overview for developing a Deacon Family Ministry Plan.
  2. Explore the importance of a Benevolence Plan as a conduit to communicate and manage the needs of families.
  3. Focus on re-forming the Pandemic Church with a fresh look (e.g., the Post COVID-19 Church).

We have assembled the best qualified, most effective, and knowledgeable instructors in Deacon ministry. You will be spiritually inspired, better equipped, and trained to perform your duties as Deacons and Deaconesses where you are assigned.

Please refer to the Congress website for an outline of the course, the outstanding cadre of instructors, and registration for this course. https//:NCBCcongressofchristianed.org

Please register today! Pass the news and invite others to attend this outstanding course.

Sincerely,

Rev. Leroy Gilbert, Ph.D.
President of Congress of Christian Education
